B2ST’s Yoseob responds to ’sasaeng fans’

After reprimanding B2ST’s sasaeng fans for their irresponsible behavior via Twitter, Yoseob took direct action by cleaning a fan’s scribble off a wall.

On February 26th, B2ST’s manager tweeted, “Please don’t make our Yoseob suffer!” and uploaded a picture.

In the picture, the idol is shown wearing rubber gloves and cleaning various scribbles on the wall.

On the same day, Yoseob tweeted his sasaeng fans “Keep scribbling away“. His reaction is a result of the sasaeng fans showing too much love for the idol.

Sasaeng fans often belong to idol groups, and they follow and stalk their favorite members by using taxi as a mode of transportation. They have caused many problems and have even been reported in the news.

B2ST’s Yoseob is taking the first step to encountering this big problem.

Victoria and Nichkhun confess that they would like a kiss scene

f(x)’s Victoria and 2PM’s Nichkhun recently confessed that they would both like to kiss, but they just haven’t been given the opportunity to yet.

On this week’s episode of MBC’s “We Got Married”, viewers were able to watch the behind-the-scene preparation for the couple’s dance at the “2010 MBC Gayo Daejun” that was broadcast a couple of months ago.

Super Junior’s Eunhyuk made a special appearance in the episode to help the couple for their dance practice, but he was able to sneak in a few questions about the Khuntoria couple’s love life.

Eunhyuk asked, “It’s been six months since your marriage, and you guys still haven’t kissed yet?”

Although the couple chose to not answer his question at first, the couple finally gave in to Eunhyuk’s persistence, as they answered, “We have thought about kissing, but we haven’t been given the opportunity to do it.”

To this, Eunhyuk replied, “That is because of the lack of effort in your marriage,” and even gave a short explanation on how to kiss.

Dalmatian on their mini album, Inati’s group obsession, and changing up their image

Fans have probably noticed by now, but Dalmatian is anything but rookie when it comes to talent. Each of the individual members are known for their extensive experience prior to their debut as a group, such as leader Inati with People Crew, Day Day as the rap instructor for JYP Entertainment, and Daniel with B2ST’s Yoseob.

Six of the seven tracks were produced by the members themselves, which gives a deeper meaning to the overall album in comparison to their “Round 1” debut. Inati revealed, “We still consider ourselves rookies, and we still rehearse through the night and into the morning. Just because we’ve released a mini-album doesn’t mean anything’s changed. Our hearts are more determined than ever, but other than that, nothing’s changed.”

Jisu added, “We put a lot on the line for this album. Of course this album doesn’t mark the end for us, but we worked as if it really was our last. We consider this our real start, and hope to meet with our fans as soon as possible.”

“Lover Cop,” one of their two title tracks, has a unique background story to go with its unique name. The members revealed that they were watching RoboCop during their break and drew influence from the movie. Jisu added his own personal touch by writing about his past love in the lyrics.

Dari explained, “Our music isn’t IQ as much as it is EQ. ‘Round 1′ was filled with our hopes and dreams, whereas our recent comeback is full of stories about love to stimulate certain emotions. We tried a variety of new ideas this time around.”

Another interesting point about the group is that there’s a 10 year age difference between hyung Inati and maknae Daniel. Youngwon stated, “Leader hyung never loses his leadership image on stage. He’s overflowing with charisma, but he’s actually quite the jokester.”

Daniel added, “Inati hyung’s nickname is ‘the 30-year-old you hate.’ I actually saw a book titled that at the book store, so I’m planning to gift it to him for his birthday this year (laughter). He normally acts really cute, especially when he says ‘It’s mine!’ when we’re trying to eat something.”

Now that the topic’s completely moved on to Inati, the members continued their ‘explosive’ confessions about their leader. They claimed that Inati never showers alone, and that he always calls at least one of them in to shower with him. He forces the member to sit on the toilet and talks to them while he showers in the stall.

Inati clarified, “I wanted to get closer to the kids, and I always want to talk about a lot of different things while I shower. Honestly, I get nervous when there isn’t someone there. I can’t even sleep at night in case they all run away without me!”

When asked about their hopes for the New Year, Jisu shyly answered, “I want to win #1 on a music program,” while Daniel added, “I want people to think of our faces when they hear our name, not ‘101 Dalmatians‘.” Youngwon replied, “We’re looking forward to a rookie award this year.”

Day Day gave a shout out to their international fans by stating, “In our lyrics for ‘Round 1,’ there’s a part where it says we’re prepared all over the world. Amongst the international fanbase, there’s quite many that love Dalmatian. Not only our Korea, but we hope to expand and meet our fans all over the world.”

The group concluded, “Although it’s a mini-album, we worked on it like it was an official album. This is an album we’ve all sweat blood and tears for during the past nine years. As a group, we hope to work towards our fanbase as devils on stage and angels off stage. Movies and dramas are boring without changing it up like that, right? (laughter) Please look forward to us!”

SM Entertainment’s Kim Young Min on the success behind the SM system + future plans

Thanks to the efforts and achievements SNSD made in their Japanese advancement, the Hallyu market and the Korean music industry have been revitalized. Previously centered around dramas, the Hallyu wave is now being led by idol groups and singers. SNSD’s overseas success has raised SM Entertainment’s yearly profits to four times what was made the previous year.

It was only through trial and error of the groups (and a soloist) such as H.O.T, S.E.S, BoA, and TVXQ that industry representatives believed the birth of SNSD was possible. At the center of their success, however, lies the CEO of SM Entertainment, Kim Young Min.

Ever since he was six years old, he grew up in Japan and is more knowledgeable in the Japanese entertainment market than any other. “The birth of a star is much like refining a gemstone into a diamond. After you pick a good gemstone, you pay close attention to what type of clothes it’ll match. I believe our success lies behind the individual talents of the nine SNSD members, SM’s system, which gave them the skills to develop into great ‘content,’ and digital media, which spread the girls globally.”

CEO Kim was quick to point out that the success behind SNSD is none other than their exceptional skill set, but it was only through the combination of digital media and SM’s system that really allowed them to gain momentum. Before SNSD’s official debut in Japan last year, SM released SNSD’s Japanese music video for the first time through YouTube, allowing Japanese fans quicker and easier access to their content, which, in turn, raised awareness for the group.

Their system was obviously a success, as their “Gee” single managed to sell 66,000 in the first week and rank #1 on the following week’s Oricon singles chart.

Kim continued, “In the past, groups were contracted for both management and music distribution, but starting last year, SM Japan used their experience and research of the Japanese market in individually managing our artists’ performances, advertisements, and promotions. They’ll be more flexible this year, but will be trying their best in order to make sure that SNSD is able to gain firm status in the Japanese market.”

Although the girls debuted last year, this year will mark their official start. They recently contracted with a Japanese advertisement CF, which will be followed by an official album and their own concert.

When asked about SM Entertainment’s plans for the new year, Kim replied, “As opposed to extending our business field this year, we’ve placed a priority on developing singer trainees, as well as a focus in the domestic market. It’s only after the domestic market is stable that we’re able to advance overseas without any trouble. We’ll be working persistently in producing Korean albums and other related content.”

Ever since 1990, SM Entertainment has placed utmost importance and investments in the development of their singers. Every Saturday, not only do they go through Korean auditions, but also auditions overseas in the USA, China, Thailand, and other locations in order to look for hidden talents.

Once accepted, each trainee is given a schedule catered to their individual needs that involve training in singing, dancing, acting, and foreign languages.

The company is also planning to debut a new rookie this year. Kim claimed that his goals and priorities for the new group this year were to launch the group in Korea first, and help them achieve a comfortable foothold in the domestic market.

im’s second goal for the coming year is carrying over Korea’s distinctive and characteristic ‘360 business model’ overseas. The ‘360 model’ requires one agency to control every aspect of a celebrity’s career from production to management; a sort of one-stop system that handles everything from auditions to training, album production, promotions and concerts, and even movie and drama castings.

SNSD managed to pilot the business model for the first time overseas with their Japanese debut. Their senior labelmates, such as TVXQ and BoA, were all promoted and managed by a separate Japanese company. SNSD, on the other hand, was managed by SM Japan.

When asked to describe the driving force behind SM’s Hallyu, Kim replied, “Instead of being satisfied with just success, we consistently researched and reinvested in ourselves to develop the system that we have now. We stress the importance of the development that went on in creating the star, not just the star itself. It’s vital that we continue to produce and plan a variety of different contents in order to create another star like SNSD under the system.”

Kim emphasized that the continuation of the Hallyu wave depended not on the stars, but on the production and mechanism behind the stars such as SNSD. More spotlight, he claimed, must be put on venues such as YouTube and SM’s production system in order for the Hallyu wave to last.

SS501’s Park Jung Min visits Kim Hyung Joon on his MV film set

SS501′s Park Jung Min has set out to support the group’s maknae, Kim Hyung Joon, as he prepares for his solo debut next month.

Kim Hyung Joon will be the second member of SS501 to officially make his solo debut. To cheer on his bandmate, Park Jung Min dropped by Kim’s film set with snacks in hand for the staff members.

Kim Hyung Joon’s representatives revealed, “Seeing the two of them together was very heartwarming. Park Jung Min was able to give a burst of energy to both Kim Hyung Joon and the staff members, who were all very tired from the late night filming.”

The star will release his solo album this March, which will be followed by a large-scale promotion cycle in Japan and the rest of Asia.

Goo Hye Sun to direct her second feature film, “Peach Tree”

Actress Goo Hye Sun has decided to pick up her director’s megaphone again, as she’s currently working on her second film, “Peach Tree“!

Nam Sang Mi and Ryu Duk Hwan have been cast as the leading roles in this special feature film. One film representative confirmed, “Goo Hye Sun is holding hands with Nam Sang Mi once more for her second film, alongside Ryu Duk Hwan for the leadig male role.”

Goo Hye Sun made her formal debut as a director through her movie “Magic” last year; nearly a year later, she’s returned to her director’s seat in order to tell the tale of Siamese twins. Ryu Duk Hwan will be playing one of the Siamese twins, and he’ll be competing against his brother for Nam Sang Mi’s affections.

Meanwhile, Goo Hye Sun is filming for two dramas – “The Musical” (with Choi Daniel) and for the Taiwanese drama, “Absolute Boyfriend.” She’s been taking time out of her busy schedule to prepare for her upcoming movie, in addition to working as the official trailer director for the “13th International Women’s Film Festival in Seoul“.

Whew! Goo Hye Sun is certainly living up to her reputation as the ‘multi-talented actress’.

DSP Media releases official statement regarding KARA’s lawsuit

After being hit with a lawsuit yesterday by KARA’s Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung, DSP Media released an official statement about their position on February 14th.

Through a press report, the agency stated,

“Because we were not delivered the accusation yet, we will speak with a lawyer once it is delivered and take the appropriate action then. Aside from thelawsuit, we will do our absolute best to ensure that KARA’s future activities are fulfilled.

Their claims of flawed income distribution is a huge distortion. All of the payments made by DSP Media were done according to their contracts, and this will be further confirmed through the process of thelawsuit.

The legal process has begun, and we hope that the three KARA members will refrain from making one-sided claims that are unconfirmed. DSP Media will also be refraining from making any statements outside of the legal discussion, like we have done thus far. We will be prioritizing KARA’s future, no matter thelawsuit. DSP Media will make sure that this controversy is resolved in an amicable matter.

Before the three members of KARA filed the lawsuit, we have made repeated attempts to resolve the situation. While we were looking forward to discussions and for misunderstandings to be resolved, thelawsuit has taken us by surprise.”

SBS to air hour-long Big Bang comeback special

After confirming their official comeback plans yesterday, Big Bang will now be meeting with their fans through an hour-long SBS special called “Big Bang Comeback Show” on February 27th!

This is the first time a singer has being given a full hour to promote their comeback on a public broadcast network since the legendary Seo Taiji.

Given the rarity of such an opportunity, it seems that SBS deemed Big Bang as worthy of the time because of the history they’ve built up both in Korea and overseas.

SBS representatives have put a gag order on the directors in order to keep Big Bang’s newest songs under wraps until the special airs.

KARA’s Nicole, Seungyeon, & Jiyoung formally file a lawsuit against DSP Media

The contract termination dispute between KARA’s Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung against DSP Media has escalated into a legal battle.

On February 14th, representatives of the three members filed a lawsuit against DSP Media, asking the Seoul Central District Court to confirm that their three exclusive contracts were invalid. They also claimed that their incomes were not distributed fairly.

Through their head representative, the three members of KARA stated, “Without prior compromise, the agency deducted promotional fees from our income without our consent, which is classified under embezzlement. From January through June of 2010, we brought in $410,000 USD in income, while the promotional expenses amounted to $390,000 USD. The expenses are abnormally excessive.”

They continued, “Even when ‘Lupin‘ was at its highest point in popularity, DSP Media only paid $860 USD per member for a total of six months. The $140 USD that we were paid a month is unfair compared to the income that we brought in.”

Landmark previously sent notice to DSP Media regarding the termination of the three contracts on January 19th. Although the members resumed their scheduled activities, the two parties were not able to come to an agreement during their repeated attempts at reconciliation over the course of 25 days.

The dispute’s escalation into a legal battle has caught both fans and industry representatives off guard, and many are speculating about what this could mean for KARA as a unit of five.

A representative of DSP Media spoke through Sports Today and stated, “We’re shocked. We met several times, but it is true that the dispute went back to first base with each discussion. But because of their ‘URAKARA‘ filming in Japan, we agreed to speak with their parents upon their return. Now that we found out that they filed a lawsuit, we’re just shocked. First of all, we will be having a meeting within our company first before releasing further statements.”

The representative also told Star News, “Their head representative claimed that the girls only received $860 USD per member for six months of their ‘Lupin’ promotions, but that is truly ridiculous. We deducted six months worth of their entire promotional expenses from the profits made off of their album sales. Thus, we did not deduct anything from their promotions in other areas such as CFs. Unlike what the three are claiming, we paid them a larger sum, but they’re claiming as if we’ve embezzled.

Wonder Girls celebrate their fourth anniversary on live videochat!

On February 10, 2007, a five member group debuted under the title Wonder Girls, snagging the hearts of the Korean public. Three years, five smash hits and over fifty official Korean music awards later, the girls have found themselves betwixt two critical markets: while a hit-laden career has launched them into becoming household name throughout Asia, they have also become fixated with reaching similar heights of fame in America.

In 2007, the ladies swept Korea by storm with their highly addictive track, Tell Me, which, with its catchy yet simple dance and addictive tune, arguably revolutionized kpop choreography for good. Later on, the quintet continued its widespread success with So Hot, earning titles as ‘Korea’s Little Sisters,’ then dominated Asia with the Nobody craze. Although the hype has died down in Korea since the track’s release, Nobody is still gaining attention internationally and is commonly played on the streets of many Asian countries today. While gearing up for their official American debut in 2010, the Wonder Girls also released 2 Different Tears, which, with only a few weeks of minimal promotions in Korea, won the Girls awards on music shows and charts.

Since arriving in the United States, the Girls have opened for the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, Earth, Wind & Fire, cracked the Billboard charts twice, and have mix and mingled with America’s elite as guests to NYC Fashion Week and other prominent events. They’ve worked with Perez Hilton, appeared on the Wendy Williams Show and performed on So You Think You Can Dance. They have top-notch producers molding their official debut album set to drop later this year. Even in America, they get recognized and stopped on the streets for photos and autographs.

Yet the Girls have seemingly decided to stay close to their humble roots, opting for modest lifestyles in New York. Today marks the group’s fourth anniversary, and the Girls celebrated with a live video webchat with their fans from the JYPE office this morning. During this chat, Twitter fans showed their support as the term ‘4WonderYears‘ hit the Trending Topics list.

In true Wonder Girls fashion, the five foodaholics began by talking excitedly about dining around the city for Restaurant Week and baking special chocolates that morning in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. They also opened an anniversary gift from groups of Wonderfuls in New York and Korea. While reading one of the Korean fan letters, leader Sunye had to pause as she teared up.

The members reminisced about their Wonder Girls World Tour last summer, citing Chicago (Sunye), Hawaii (Lim), Washington DC (Yoobin), New York (Sohee) and Toronto (Yeeun) as their favorites. They also chatted about the JYP US Tour and performing in China over Halloween. The Girls then revealed information about future performances, talking about their upcoming stage in Thailand and hinting at possible performances in Australia, Europe and Japan later this year.

The Wonder Girls also spent time answering questions and requests from their fans. At one point, they sang ‘Happy Birthday’ in Chinese to one fan, and Sunye sang Maybe (from the Dream High OST) live to fans. They shared their favorite numbers, favorite iPad apps, favorite types of chocolate, favorite movies, Lim’s entrance & adjustment into the group, and thoughts on living New York. ”It’s so good to walk on the streets here,” Sunye exclaimed and reminded, “Walking is really good for your health.

U-KISS’ Eli & Kevin reveal their ideal woman’s traits

On February 11th, U-KISS’ Eli and Kevin attended the press conference for their “Star Date” special with Arirang TV, for which the members go on dates with Hallyu fans in Hong Kong.

The two raised anticipation by commenting, “The night view in Hong Kong is amazing, and there’s a lot of things to eat. We feel that this will be an opportunity to become closer with our fans.”

The members were then asked to describe their ideal women, to which Eli replied, “I like tall women with nice personalities. It’s inevitable for physical appearance to be included in describing my ideal woman, but first and foremost, I’d like for her to have an outgoing personality.”

Kevin also emphasized a ‘bright personality’, as he added, “I’d like for her to have an outgoing personality, and she’s someone who smiles often. My ideal woman is someone who can understand my feelings and accepts me for who I am.”

When asked to choose a female celebrity that they’d like to give chocolates to on Valentine’s Day, Eli and Kevin chose Hyun Young and 2NE1’s Dara, respectively.

Their “STAR DATE with U-KISS in Hong Kong” will be broadcast in 188 broadcast networks all over the world through KBS World at a later date.
